New Project: Bathroom Gut Job Part 5 Update - Shower Part 1

This week was such a big week for the bathroom renovation! There is nothing like when you start to see your vision come to life while learning a few lessons along the way.

I started tiling the shower, and silly me, thought I would have it finished by now. But let’s rewind and start where we left off last week.

I needed to decide on a layout for the tile. I knew I was going to use a classic white subway tile, but I wanted to change up the design a little bit to give it some extra flare.

It ultimately came down to doing a classic layout or adding in square tiles every few rows. I kept going back to the squares and that it was I decided to go with.

Now that the layout was decided on, I got to work! I got a lot done on the first day, but quickly realized that I wasn’t going to finish it in 3 days like I originally thought. And the whole reason for that is because of a little 2 1/2 year old that goes by the name of Asher 😜.

End of day 1 of tiling the shower

The time and precision that tiling subway tile takes alone would have already taken me over the 3 days, but then you add in Asher who needs full supervision and 2 girls who school pick up times are during his nap time, and my time became quickly limited. This week was all about Ron finishing work and me starting tiling as soon as he came inside.

And then you add in learning lessons and getting into the groove of the best way to tile to the mix and let’s just say that this part has been all about learning and growth. I don’t feel like an expert enough to give any tiling tips and there are so many videos out there, but I will say that going slow and making sure everything is level is huge.

But we are at the end of the week and I almost finished the whole back wall! The good news is that the other two walls are half the size of the back wall, so I figure I can finished the rest of the tile in another week 🤞🏼.

Stay tuned for next week where there will be…you guessed it…more tile! Thanks for following along this journey

with love, andi
